Espresso Extraction Cheatsheet
Use this guide to interpret your results and adjust your grind size accordingly.
Extraction Logic
- Sour / Fast: Under-extracted. Grind is too coarse. Adjustment: Grind finer.
- Bitter / Slow: Over-extracted. Grind is too fine. Adjustment: Grind coarser.
- Balanced: Sweetness, acidity, and body are in harmony.
Troubleshooting
- Channeling: Uneven flow or 'spritzing'. Check puck prep and distribution.
- Dose Adjustments: If grind changes don't work, adjust dose by ±0.5g to change resistance.
- Consistency: Always purge your grinder and keep your basket clean.
